My goal with this forum is to answer your questions, give you ideas and help you in any way that I can. I also encourage others to add their answers and ideas as well.
Please introduce yourself and ask questions about anything related to teaching!
I am introducing myself with this picture of me on Santa Cruz Island with my students because this is one example of how I like to teach. It took a lot of effort to get the school district to agree to this trip and it was worth the effort. Many of my students had never seen stars at night because they live in the city and there is too much light pollution. Many of them had never camped, never been on a boat, never kayaked, never snorkeled. This was a dream trip for them that they will never forget. This trip opened their eyes to the awe a person can feel when out in nature.
Walking back to the tents at night, several students reached their arms up to the sky and one said, "The stars are so close, I feel like I can reach out and touch them." I loved that moment. I thought my students would be the most excited about the Santa Cruz Island fox or the kayaking or the snorkeling. While they loved those parts of the trip as well, it was the incredible stars that made the biggest impression.
I love bringing the joy of learning to my students as often as possible and in as many ways as possible. I also love helping teachers.
I look forward to your questions and to active discussions.
