How Do You Know How You're Doing?

Quora question: How can teachers tell if they're doing well with their students?

Answer: Your students will let you know.

This is how:

  1. They will be interested and eager to come to your class and not in a hurry to leave.

  2. They will be curious about what you are teaching that day.

  3. They will make positive comments like these:

    1. “I feel smart in your class.”

    2. “Oops..is it already time to go?”

    3. “Can my friend come to your tutorial? She needs help too.”

    4. “I really learn in your class.”

  4. They will feel comfortable and honest when giving you constructive feedback.

Final Thought: Your students are your best indicators for how you’re doing. Listen to them. Observe your student’s reactions to different teaching strategies you’re using and adjust accordingly. This does not mean changing your teaching for the few that simply want lessons to be easy; it means listening to the majority that will give you valuable feedback.
